Cultural Activities at the Camp

Our selection of authentic activities will help immense yourself in Chinese culture and tradition. You will be given the opportunity to take part in these activities 'hands-on' guided by specialist instructors most afternoons during camp days. 

Traditional Chinese calligraphy

The Chinese first started creating calligraphy poems and phrases thousands of years ago. In our calligraphy classes, you will learn how to write your name or even an old Chinese poem.

Opera mask painting

China has a rich and colorful cultural history, and masks have played a major role in Chinese tradition for thousands of years. Chinese masks, depending on their function, are divided into several different categories. In our mask painting workshop, you'll learn about the meaning behind each mask and have fun with painting. 

Chinese knot making

Chinese knotting is also referred to as "Chinese traditional decorative knotsā€. One major characteristic of decorative knotwork is that all the knots are tied using one piece of thread, which is usually about one meter in length. However, finished knots look identical from both the front and back. In our Chinese knot making you will learn how to make a simple traditional Chinese knot. 

Tai-Chi

Tai-Chi has been around since the 12th century and is a great way to get fit as well as learn some basic self defense. It is especially popular among older people in China as a morning exercise.
